Matthew Hartles

Hi my name is Matt and I'm one of the Freelance Designers here at Gershwins.

I joined the team in 2013 and have been a hairdressing professional for 15 years. I fell into hairdressing with self application of hair colour at home, then realised there is a science behind it and I was intrigued. I began my career in hairdressing in a small salon in Paignton, then moved to Gershwins to boost my learning and to catapult my career. I got to the final in the Paul Mitchell art team after only being a senior stylist for a year. I have had amazing opportunities along the way including working on an Olaplex training video, teaching at two local colleges and getting involved in editorial photo shoots. My work has also been featured on cat walks internationally.

I am committed to consistent updating of my hairdressing skills through attending courses and workshops and I have now taken a primary role in the education team at Gershwins.

I really love creating amazing looks with colour and how transformative it can be for my guests. When I'm not in the salon I have an interest in travel and love city breaks - when I'm at home I love spending time with my cat Millie.

I'm really looking forward to welcoming new and existing guests to Gershwins x
